Foundation of the tavern

Miquel Riera settles in Vilassar de Mar.
Our tavern offers the "vasito" of wine and the "barrecha" to the locals, who frequented our place on a daily basis, where they met to talk about the weather, sea, fishing and hunting.
It was a typical tavern of the Mediterranean coast, small, cosy and with a rustic and familiar atmosphere, which over the years from father to son has been preserved.

1940

The Espinaler vermouth

Joan Tapias, our famous "grandfather Espinaler", decides to change the glass of wine for quality vermouth, a true novelty, which over the years would be one of our most popular products.
The aperitifs were simple

Glass of vermouth: 30 cents
Chips: 10 cents
Anchovies: 15 cents
Olives and 1/2 vermouth: 20 cents

Gradually, the range of appetizer products increased by introducing white clams, cockles, bonito tuna..."

1990

Expansion of the Espinaler brand

Due to the good reception the products that we recommended received, we brought a range of new products to market under our own Espinaler brand, from the best Galician seafood selected by Miquel Tapias.
These days, there are many establishments in Spain which have our products.
Since the beginning, Espinaler has been synonymous with quality, which is the basis of the company and the philosophy inherited from father to son.

2000

Nowadays

In 2000, we opened the new tavern-shop-warehouse. A warehouse of 1300m/2 where you can find a wide range of Espinaler products and a selection of other top products, including appetizers, cava, wine, spirits, etc.
The expansion of the brand continues with the increasing range of Espinaler products, which are found in may quality gourmet shops around Catalonia and the rest of Spain.
